THIE News is a semi-annual newsletter for THIE subscribers.

From the CEO

Happy Summer!

I hope you are all finding fun ways to enjoy or beat the heat of July.  This past month, the THIE staff had an afternoon of team building to stretch our creative side; visiting Board and Brush in Cedar Park.

Creativity is key to remaining relevant and useful for our subscribers.  In the past year, our underwriters have created a new umbrella policy form and our risk managers have created new education on Nursing Documentation and Slips, Trips and Falls, Prevention while our board continues to work on expanding their strategic analysis for THIE’s future.

We look forward to seeing you at the new TORCH Fall conference in September and

the combined Hot Topics/NWTHA golf tournament in October.  Hopefully the creativity of combining some of our annual events helps ease calendar woes.

What has creativity done for your healthcare facility lately?  We love hearing your success stories.

Hot Topics: Lubbock, October 1st-3rd, in Partnership with the Northwest Texas Hospital Association

THIE and NWTHA have teamed up for THIE’s fall Hot Topics for one great event at the Overton Hotel in Lubbock, TX.

The NWTHA board has partnered with THIE to combine aspects of their meeting with THIE’s Hot Topics Forum; an event that hosts a golf tournament, trade show, and educational panel.

The NWTHA board was intentional about the continuation of the scholarship program to support local health care professionals as they advance their career in service to your communities.

As always, free education will be provided by THIE and their great line-up of speakers. The golf tournament will be hosted by the Northwest Texas Hospital Association. Funds raised will benefit NWTHA’s scholarship program—a 90-year tradition that supports rural health care facilities.

With this in mind, THIE would like to note that there will be a fee to play golf at the fall event in Lubbock. While we pride ourselves on offering golf for free, this year we are working to give back and support NWTHA. We hope you will join us in supporting this great cause!

Hospitals Turn To THIE For Exceptional Insurance Coverage

For over 40 years, THIE has delivered exceptional coverage to medical professionals, hospitals, and other health care facilities.

As a reciprocal exchange, THIE is owned by its subscribers. This ensures a mutual commitment to lowering costs, limiting claims and maintaining a safe workplace. Subscribers share profits and losses in the same proportion as the amount of insurance they purchase, so premiums paid become an investment.

We are more than just an insurance company, we are a partner.

As we continue to grow in our field — extending our services to Oklahoma, offering our products beyond rural facilities, and now adding additional forms of coverage.

THIE proudly offers Excess Liability Coverage — applicable to all products we offer. We recognized that for mid-size facilities, surgery centers and management groups, excess liability coverage is a highly sought-after resource.

Health care providers may find themselves in need of flexible funds for insurance coverage. For example, in the event of a large workers compensation case, a natural disaster or a cybersecurity breach, our insureds are able to apply the excess liability coverage to any existing THIE policy for coverage as needed.

Our excess liability policy provides limits up to $10 million. With excess coverage, hospitals can choose a limit above existing policies; ensuring the best and most coverage wherever needed.

Meet The Staff!

Growth In Oklahoma

We have continued our growth and work in Oklahoma; attending their rural conference and meeting with agents and hospital leaders from around the state. We’ve enjoyed networking with our neighbor state and next we look forward to the 100-year Oklahoma Hospital Association’s (OHA) celebration!

With the help of THIE’s onsite reviews, employee education, and Hot Topics we have been able to lower our work Comp claims and become more aware of our risk.  These services are provided at no extra charge, an important aspect that all rural facilities can understand.

Thank you to Nocona General Hospital for "sharing your success" and great feedback regarding HIPAA training at your facility!

"Angie came to our hospital to perform staff HIPAA training. Angie is very personable while maintaining utmost professionalism while interacting with staff and very open with their questions. She provided us with a 1,000 to 5,000 foot level of comprehension as opposed to the 30,000-foot level we have received in the past. That being said, her presentation was very much on point. Since then, I have had very positive feedback from staff and am seeing a higher level of conscientious approach to maintaining patient privacy. Thank you for allowing us to benefit from Angie’s knowledge and education."
