THIE Makes Top 20 Ranking

(Austin – November 2009) – Austin-based Texas Hospital Insurance Exchange ranked among the top 20 property and casualty insurance carriers this month by the Austin Business Journal.  With $9.53 million in 2008 premiums, THIE ranked 15th among central Texas carriers in the annual listing. THIE had total 2008 admitted assets of $28.19 million and paid out losses of $2.07 million.

“Despite these challenging economic times, THIE has continued to have solid performance this year,” said Deborah Samples, president/chief executive officer. “Just this fall alone, we have added nine long-term care hospital clients and five freestanding emergency facility to our portfolio.  That positive new business, combined with a 95 percent renewal rate among our existing customers this year, is helping to ensure a strong close out to 2009.”
